It's one of my best VPS hosting experiences ever.
I have been using Linode for a couple of years - it's one of my best VPS hosting experiences ever. A few days ago, I opened a ticket with the Helpdes...
k - minutes later they got back to me with a qualified answer. As per my observation from a few years about the hosting industry just 2 VPS hosting providers are doing what they promise - One is Linode and another is DedicatedCore.

negative experience looking for new provider
looking for a new or different provider i wanted to try linode and tried to open an account. first problem: they do not explicitely or clearly tell th...
eir customers their accounts "need to be validated" despite customers providing their personnal data and credit card details. I was surprised, after submitting my personnal info and cc details to receive and automated/generic message telling me that my account "needed to be validated" of course, without providing any ETA, and of course, because when you want a paas or vps you can wait some hours or even days to deploy your stuff etc <--- not, and IDK wtf these guys have on their minds. I waited a few minutes, nothing happened, no ETA, no feedback, just that generic message. I then replied to the generic message asking them to cancel my account creation. to my "surprise", their reply and action were almost inminent and i received a generic confirmation in less than one minute telling me that my account was cancelled. I then tried again, this second time making sure my vpn is disabled ( double checked my ip), using a common browser, no proxy, provided my full name instead of joe (joseph), gave my full address and also gave my phone number (marked as optionnal). I also added a discount from network chuck becuse i was there because of him and i thought that would reinforce our trust/relation. Well, i was horribly wrong: i waited again, just to receive the same generic message with no clear or possible reason of the account cancellation. do not get my wrong, i am a professionnal, i have been personnally and professionnally working with other known providers (aws, ovh, gandi) and therefore i am not naive: i know that all providers struggle with abuse and crime and that they legally screen their customers (browser, location, ip, proxies, mean of payment etc) and decline potentially fraudulent operations. clearly i know nowadays it is almost impossible to register a domain name or to create a vps on major providers using proxies, paying with btc etc.. and Im ok with that as long as it is transparent, fair and when it works. linode is not efficient, nor fair, nor transprent: you do not tell your customers their account needs to be "verified" even when they trust you, and give you UP-FRONT all their personnal information and CC details <-- this is unacceptable, very assymetric and disproportionnate. sorry, other companies understand that and have efficient mechanisms, tools and procedure unlike yours. thank you for making me loose my time, hope this helps others.

NO Refunds
This has been, without exaggeration, one of the most infuriating, stressful, and financially damaging experiences I’ve ever had with any service**and ...
I’m stunned this company is still in business. They have a laughably rigid "no refunds after 45 days" policy, even if you're left with NINE MONTHS of unusable time on your account. Imagine paying for something long-term, only for the provider to completely fail on their endand then smugly deny you a refund. It's not just unethicalit's predatory. The server performance is absolutely abysmal. It feels like a ticking time bomb. Their servers go down every five damn minutes. I wish that were an exaggeration. You can’t run a business, host clients, or even keep a basic webpage online with this level of instability. And the worst part? They know it. They’ve been told. And they’ve done NOTHING. This isn’t just about downtime. This is about the destruction of trust, time, and business. Their constant outages directly led to the suspension of both my Google Ads and Google Merchant Center accounts. Do you have any idea what kind of hell it is trying to recover from that? The appeals, the explanations, the hours of writing emails and making calls just to prove that you didn’t do anything wrongit was your provider. I’ve lost revenue, credibility, and sleep over this. I’ve spent countless hours troubleshooting problems that weren’t mine to begin with fighting fires started by their failures. The psychological stress of watching your business crumble over something you can't control is unbearable. It’s anxiety. It’s helplessness. It’s rage. And above all, it's betrayal because I trusted them to deliver a basic, functional service. And what do you get when you raise these issues? Nothing. Silence. Or worse copy-pasted excuses from support agents who clearly don’t care and won’t lift a finger to help. If you value your business, your sanity, or even just basic decency, stay as far away from this company as possible. They’re not just unreliable they’re dangerous to your operations and reputation.
